Florida State earns ninth commitment

By BRANDON MELLOR

The Florida State football team recently picked up its ninth commitment for the 2009 recruiting class when Titusville's Willie Haulstead gave his verbal pledge to the Seminoles.

The Titusville High wide receiver, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 210 pounds, becomes the ninth player to commit early to FSU. Players that give verbal commitments are not bound by their respective decisions until National Signing Day in February of each year.

As a junior a season ago, Haulstead paced the offense at Titusville High with 45 receptions for 648 yards. He added 13 touchdowns.

The talented wide receiver becomes the second pass-catcher to commit to the 2009 class, joining Tallahassee Godby High School star Willie Downs.

Haulstead was named a First-Team All Space Coast player for his exploits on the gridiron his junior year. He has never actually been to visit the FSU campus but will do so this summer.

Haulstead joins Downs, defensive linemen Jaccobi McDaniel, Ed Stinson and Brandon Jenkins, defensive backs Gerald Demps and JaJuan Harley, linebacker C.J. Mizell and running back Chris Thompson as current Seminole commitments.
