A Lake City neighborhood had a surprise visitor Friday when residents found a bear in their backyard. The bear was first spotted about 5:00 am and police were called. They, in turn contacted the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission who tranquilized the bear to get it out of the tree. "He fell asleep and kind of slid out of the tree," said Karen Parker of the FWC. FWC biologists weighted and measured the bear discovering that it was about 2-years-old and weighted 100 pounds. After the bear was tattooed and tagged, he was taken to be released in the Osceola National Forest. |
