‘A Bench in the Sun’ opens

Amelia Community Theatre will present Ron Clark's comedy "A Bench in the Sun" as its next mainstage show.

Charlie Horton, Jan Cote-Merow and Jim Hestand, from left, star in "A Bench in the Sun," which opens Friday night at Amelia Community Theatre. Director Char Bachman calls them her "dream team."                          Submitted

Two longtime friends, Harold and Burt, live in a retirement home and spend their days sitting on a bench in the garden bickering. When a once-famous actress moves to the home, they find themselves competing for her attention. Mel Brooks has described this comedy as "very wise, very moving, but most of all, very funny."

Directed by Char Bachman, the three-person cast is the key to the play’s success. Charlie Horton, Jim Hestand and Jan Cote-Merow are the dream team of actors that make the show.

"A Bench in the Sun," will play at the Amelia Community Theatre, 209 Cedar St., Friday and Saturday and May 22-24 and 28-31 at 8:00 p.m., and May 25 at 2:00 p.m.

The box office is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students. For more information, call 261-6749 or visit www.amelia communitytheatre.org.
