Rock legend Bo Diddley dies
Bo Diddley was "The Originator." He more than earned that title by ushering in a unique musical style with a trademark rhythm. He became known as one of the most important architects of rock 'n’ roll music.

The 79-year-old guitarist/singer/songwriter who had been in declining health since last year, died from heart failure early Monday at his home near Archer, Florida.
His unique music was covered by legendary musicians including the Rolling Stones, the Animals, Bob Seger, the Who and Aerosmith.
In recent years, Bo Diddley had received numerous accolades in recognition of his role as one of the founding fathers of rock and roll. In 1986, he was inducted into the Washington Area Music Association's Hall of Fame. The following year saw his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His pioneering contribution to rockabilly has been recognized by the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. In 1996, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation. The following year saw his 1955 recording of his song "Bo Diddley" inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame as a recording of lasting qualitative or historical significance. He received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998.
Diddley is survived by a brother, the Rev. Kenneth Haynes of Biloxi, Miss.; his children, Evelyn Kelly, Ellas A. McDaniel, Tammi D. McDaniel and Terri Lynn McDaniel; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
A wake planned for Friday and internment services planned for Sunday are private.
There will be two services open to the public.
