Baker man shot in attempted robbery

JACKSONVILLE, FL - A Baker County man is recuperating after being shot in the head in an apparent robbery attempt Monday morning.

Danny Powless, an employee of Comfort Systems, was working at the Auburn Glen Apartments on Southside Boulevard just north of Baymeadows Road at around 9:00 a.m. when he was attacked. Witnesses say two men attempted to rob Powless, and shot him before fleeing on foot.

Powless was taken to Shands Jacksonville for what authorities called life-threatening injuries.
