This week I decided to break away from the norm and try something new. I try to bring you the best choices of games that I would think that you as a gamer would want to play. I began thinking, however, that I have a very specific taste in games. The games I look forward to playing must have a great story, good gameplay and, of course, must spark my interest. However, what do you, the readers want to hear about?

I have a question and answer section but, that usually revolves around one question that you want
Evil rocks!
answered. What are the games that you want to read about? What draws you to a game?

Hopefully this article will help you to find out what games you find interesting and maybe even tell  you if you have the same great taste in games I do.

5. RTS Genre

This is probably my most broad game spread on this list. I just love the genre itself whether I’m playing through historically-based scenarios found in Age of Empires or Empire Earth, or tearing up the fictional scene in Starcraft or Command and Conquer. The genre never gets old even with the move from computer to console. My new favorite game in the genre involves another one of my loves, Lord of the Rings. The Battle for Middle Earth II for the 360 is a phenomenal game, tight controls as well as a story line that would make
Epic doesn't begin to describe it...
Tolkien proud.

Future games in this genre include Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath coming out for the 360 in a few weeks on June 23rd by EA. Halo Wars has yet again been pushed back. For more on that game check out our archives.

4. Spyro the Dragon

This game might come as a shock to those who have played any of the new Spyro games but, believe me my favorites are the original "trilogy" for the PS1, Spyro the Dragon, Ripto’s Rage, and Year of the Dragon. The games give a quest but more than that, you have fun doing it. I
Best platformer ever (in my opinion)
mean sometimes collecting all of those eggs, trophy’s, or keys were a pain but overall the game reminds me of just having fun playing a game. The story was awesome and brought it all to you with a humorous tone... i.e. Hunter.

There have been four other Spyro games released after the original three for consoles, not including the one in the works now. The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon will be the final game in another trilogy, A New Beginning and Eternal Night were the two earlier installments. This trilogy has shown much progress for the series however I have been iffy towards the Spyro series ever since Enter the Dragonfly. I might have to pick up this new trilogy and try it out. If anyone has played any of them send me a message and tell me how they are.

3. Any RPG by Bioware

Sometimes a company just knows how to do things right for a genre. This is the case for Bioware who has become known for its RPG’s (Role Playing Games). Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire are on my "still play" shelf even though they have been out for a few years. Now with the addition of Mass Effect a few months ago my love for the company and its games continues to grow. Deep gameplay and storylines that are unrivaled in the business propel these games into must own status. If you haven’t played any of these titles do yourself a favor and go out and get them.

Saving the universe one Geth at a time.
As for the future, Bioware is now working on Mass Effect 2, (working title), which will be part of the trilogy planned to be released. As for Jade Empire and Knights of the Old Republic only rumors have been circulating. When hard evidence appears you will definitely hear it about it here.

2. Dynasty/Samurai Warriors

Well, this game series is usually under a lot of scrutiny because it is essentially the same game since Dynasty Warriors 3. Well, I say if you make it right the first time, why change it? Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors have been going strong since Koei changed the formula from fighter to hack n’ slash gameplay. That move was key to the success of the franchise. I love the games first off because of their historical significance. Dynasty Warriors is inspired from the Three Kingdoms, written by Luo Guanzhong and Samurai Warriors is based off of events in
Nobunaga Oda, unifier of Japan and a bad-#&*.
Feudal Japan. I’ll admit that the series can improve in a lot of ways. However, I think that some of that improvement happened in Dynasty Warriors 6 the first "next gen" game for the series.

The future outlook looks good. As long as the series keeps selling Koei will always pump out another one. I’m hoping that a Samurai Warriors 3 is on the way, with a more in-depth, ‘create-a-character’ mode.

1. Assassin’s Creed

My favorite game of all time may come as a surprise to you but, the open ended world of Assassin’s Creed beats out the competition and with the outlook of two more games in the series I think my choice is well-founded.

Waiting on #2...
Some people say that Assassin’s Creed may have been too repetitive for their likes, but I ask, how can a game that gives you the freedom to complete your objective any way you want to be  repetitive? I mean you can take your target out by directly approaching him, (not the wisest choice), or by sneaking along the rooftops, or by waiting for him to pass beside you, or chasing him down the street, the possibilities are endless. This game is well worth the money. The story is completely engrossing and will have you cussing at your system when you get to the end. I for one can’t wait for the next game in the series.

Well, that does it. Did we have any in common? If you want to tell me your favorite games send me the list at gamer@northfloridanewsdaily.com as well as your questions, rants, comments, even willy-banter.

From the Gamers.

Hey well I'm back with another question that I have been wondering and that’s if you have any news on Kingdom Hearts 3?
Sincerely,
Sminkleforg

Hey Sminkleforg keep them coming. This one however might disappoint you because I could only find a working title to the game but no details on it. The title however is Kingdom Hearts X.

Gamer, I was wondering if Sony was going to release a new PSP anytime soon. You know how the DS has the lite? Kinda along those lines.
Yerf

Yerf, Sony hasn’t had any announcements for a new version of the PSP since they trimmed down the first one however is you don’t like silver or black the red God of War PSP just hit the shelves.

Gamer, thank you for your article. Call of Duty 5 looks awesome.
