Theatre happenings"The Taming of the Shrew"The University of North Florida Department of English will present William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" at 8 p.m. June 21 and at 2 p.m. June 22, in the John E. Matthews Jr. Computer Science Building (Building 15), Room 1303. The play, which is free and open to the public, is Shakespeare's best-loved comedy on the battle of the sexes. Camden Summer Theatre presents Disney's "Beauty and the Beast"Camden Summer Theatre presents Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" June 26-29 at the Camden County High School auditorium. The classic musical fairy tale highlights the importance of inner beauty. The show will be performed at the CCHS Auditorium June 26-28 at 7:30 p.m. and June 29 at 2:30 p.m. Whether young or old, a fan of the film, or just looking to escape the summer heat, everyone is sure to enjoy this "tale as old as time." Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students and $5 for children and senior citizens. For tickets or information call the box office at (912) 729-7463. ‘LCCC presents "Oklahoma!"The Lake City Community College summer production of "Oklahoma!" begins Thursday, June 19 and continues Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. There also is a Saturday and Sunday matinée beginning at 3:30 p.m. "Oklahoma!" is the first musical by duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. Set in the Oklahoma territory in the early 1900s, "Oklahoma!" tells the musical story of cowboy Curly McLain and his romance with Laurey Williams, a farmer’s daughter.
