Could It Be True?

By BRANDON FINLEY

Sometimes people just need to take a step back. Have we really become that gullible as society that we believe everything we see? Some things are as believable as Pinocchio when his nose grows.

The latest stunt floating around the Internet is all the buzz, and has crossed over into the sports world. However, you would have to be an idiot to believe it. But then again, people do.

Shaun Suisham does not have the strongest leg in the history of the planet, but some sites expect you to believe that. There's a video circling the web showing Suisham attempt a record 110 yard field goal. In the tape, which possesses great editing, Suisham's attempt is clearly good. In real life it might make it half way.

The video has clearly been doctored. Anyone with any sense would know this, but if you need a little more convincing look at some of the stats. Suisham finished a whopping 26th in the league in kickoff touchback percentage last season.

Suisham has a leg, but it's only good for about half that distance. His career long is only 52 yards. He's only made three field goals over 50 yards in his entire career, and only twelve over forty.

Suisham is clearly not the kicker being portrayed by this video, but people are trying to find ways to justify it. Maybe it's helium some think. The fact is that helium actually doesn't increase the ball flight of a football.

So next time you're scrolling across the old YouTube, don't let yourself be fooled. Don't begin to question how your team’s kicker missed a forty yarder last year when Suisham can clearly kick it out of the stadium from that distance. Simply, don't let yourself be fooled. Suisham may be a good kicker, but he's had some Spielberg-type editing on this one.
