PGA makes changes

The PGA TOUR announced that Ron Cross, executive director of THE PLAYERS Championship, has accepted a position as director of corporate affairs for Augusta National Golf Club. Henry Hughes has been appointed as chief executive officer of THE PLAYERS Championship. Rick George will move into the chief of operations position. Mike Stevens has been promoted to president of the Champions Tour. David Pillsbury will expand his operational oversight leading the Championship Management team. Changes take effect June 1

Search Marketing Conference

Search Marketing Conference 2008 will be held on May 1st for two sessions: 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn located at 9745 Gate Parkway Dr. N. Senior Respite Center to open

MACCLENNY, FL - A new senior respite center is scheduled to open n Tuesday, May 1 at 151 North Third Street in Macclenny. The center will provide a safe environment for seniors to receive personal care, meals, and participate in activities. LCCC to hold nurses pinning and graduation ceremony

LAKE CITY, FL - Lake City Community College (LCCC) nurses pinning and graduation ceremony will be held Friday, May 2 beginning at 2 p.m. in the LCCC Conference Center. Immediately following the nurses pinning there will be a reception in the Lake City Medical Center auditorium inside the Barney E. McRae Jr., M.D. Medical Technology building for family and friends. At 5 p.m. LCCC 2008 Graduating Class commencement exercises will be held also in the Conference Center. Plan now to attend these significant ceremonies that positively change the lives of the graduates from LCCC’s five-county district.

Visioning plan meetings

NASSAU COUNTY, FL - The public is invited to participate in Nassau County Vision 2032. The group's steering committee has announced public involvement meetings, to be held May 12 at Yulee Middle School 85439 Miner Road; May 13 at First Baptist Church of Boulogne, 28226 Church Drive; and May 13 at First Baptist Church of Boulogne, 28226 Church Drive. All meetings begin at 7 p.m.

Main Street construction continues

JACKSONVILLE, FL - Heavy construction continues on the Main Street sidewalks in downtown Jacksonville. The project is part of the City’s Main Street landscaping initiative that involves improving pedestrian traffic on Main Street from Beaver Street to the Main Street Bridge. The project also includes the $1.8 million pocket park across from the Main Library.

AIBF deadline extended

AMELIA ISLAND, FL - The Amelia Island Book Festival Board of Directors has extended the deadline to April 30 for reader participation in selecting authors for the 2008 book festival. Authors who wish to be considered must submit their book to the Festival Selection Committee. All submitted books are then placed in the "CD" section of the Fernandina Beach Public Library for the public to check out and review. Books may be obtained from any branch in Nassau County. The Fernandina Beach Library provides book review forms to all readers so they may offer their opinions on the books. Genres include fiction, non-fiction, poetry, mystery and young adult/children.
