Business Briefs PGA makes changesThe PGA TOUR announced that Ron Cross, executive director of THE PLAYERS Championship, has accepted a position as director of corporate affairs for Augusta National Golf Club. Henry Hughes has been appointed as chief executive officer of THE PLAYERS Championship. Rick George will move into the chief of operations position. Mike Stevens has been promoted to president of the Champions Tour. David Pillsbury will expand his operational oversight leading the Championship Management team. All meetings begin at 7 p.m. Main Street construction continuesJACKSONVILLE, FL - Heavy construction continues on the Main Street sidewalks in downtown Jacksonville. The project is part of the City’s Main Street landscaping initiative that involves improving pedestrian traffic on Main Street from Beaver Street to the Main Street Bridge. The project also includes the $1.8 million pocket park across from the Main Library. AIBF deadline extendedAMELIA ISLAND, FL - The Amelia Island Book Festival Board of Directors has extended the deadline to April 30 for reader participation in selecting authors for the 2008 book festival. Authors who wish to be considered must submit their book to the Festival Selection Committee. All submitted books are then placed in the "CD" section of the Fernandina Beach Public Library for the public to check out and review. Books may be obtained from any branch in Nassau County. The Fernandina Beach Library provides book review forms to all readers so they may offer their opinions on the books. Genres include fiction, non-fiction, poetry, mystery and young adult/children.
