Community 'cleans up' for charity

By DAVID THEUS

This Saturday morning was definitely not for the lazy. Employees of the Mercantile Bank located on South 6th Street in Macclenny teamed up with the BCHS Varsity Girls Softball Team to lend

a helping hand in the fight for a cure on behalf of the American Cancer Society.

Members of the BCHS Air Force Junior ROTC cornered the market at the Macclenny CVS on 6th Street and Hwy. 90 offering the drivers of Baker County yet another opportunity to operate a clean vehicle. Maj. Joe Chiofolo said: "The cadets do lots of fundraisers. Through these fundraisers we are able to do community service like help local families with special needs. We place the recycle bins at the high school, any thing we can do to make the community, the school, and our nation a better place…and in the end, these guys are better for it." Proceeds from the cadets efforts also go to provide for meals and cover transportation costs for field trips to Kennedy Space Center and other educational opportunities.
