The "Cemetery Club" at High Springs Community Theater

"The Cemetery Club" at High Springs Community Theater

Ursula Strauss as Lucille, Lorraine Kirkland as Doris, Arlene Levine as Ida, David Minnich as Sam, and Sheryl Vavrick as Mildred star in Ivan Menchell’s comedy ‘The Cemetery Club.’ The play will be shown Friday through May 25 at the High Springs Community Theater.

The play features a witty, but morbid humor with death binding the three women of "The Cemetery Club" together. Set in New York City, the play’s main characters are three Jewish widows who are all coping with their husbands’ passing in different ways. The one thing they do have in common in dealing with their grief is visiting the cemetery and their husbands’ graves once a month.

The play is directed by Joyce Ross and Tony Boothby. This is Boothby’s first time directing and brought Ross along for the ride since she directed him late last year in the theater production of "Bell, Book and Candle."

The show will run Friday through May 25, at 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets cost $11 for adults, $8 for youth age 11 and younger, and $9 for senior citizens age 55 and older on Sundays. Tickets can be purchased in High Springs at The Coffee Clutch or in Lake City at The Framery of Lake City, 855 SW Baya Drive.

Tickets can also be purchased online by visiting www.MYHSCT.com.
