LCPD Arrests Bank Robbery Suspect
     On May 9thth, at approximately 4:38 pm, a lone suspect entered the Bank of America, located at 2357 NW US Highway 90 in Lake City. The suspect, Richard Knox, 32, took a seat at a customer service officers desk and then approached the teller with a note demanding money.

     While the worker's of the world celebrated their fight for a better life in myriad demonstrations around the globe on Mayday, the protest against the constricting and often imbalanced economic markets of the world and especially America took on a new form of speech in Gainesville. The Really Really Free Market existed for several blissful hours during the afternoon/evening of May 1 at the downtown community plaza in Gainesville.

Harvey The Horse Is a Friend Indeed
     Tanyia Rowan, one of Baker County's finest has a special friend in the class room. This year Mrs. Rowan is celebrating her ninth year teaching Kindergarten for Baker County Schools. Early on Mrs. Rowan knew that she would need a special friend to help her motivate children. That special friend is the one and only "Harvey the Horse."

Qualifying ends for some local, federal political races
     Friday was the deadline for Northeast Florida political contenders to qualify for local court related and federal races. No Democrats or Independents entered the race for state attorney in Duval, Clay, Nassau, St. Johns, Putnam, Flagler and Volusia counties, so those voters will be allowed to vote in the August 26 Republican primary.

Man gets prison after repeat DUI
DUI manslaughter did not deter another drinking and driving arrest
     Joseph W. Nerone, 30, returned to Baker County to face violation of probation charges stemming from a March 2, 1997 crash in which one passenger was killed and two others were severely injured. He had originally been charged with one count of DUI manslaughter and two counts of DUI causing personal injury.
