THE PLAYERS Opening Celebration
This Jacksonville Landing event features Mayor John Peyton giving Proclamation of THE PLAYERS Championship Week, honoring the anniversary of Mark McCumber’s win and the showing of highlight videos from past THE PLAYERS Championship. Event begins at 5:00 p.m. Live music provided by the Kort McCumber & McCumberland Gap band from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

JCA Film Series: The JCA Film Series presents a free showing of "The Impossible Spy" at 7:30 p.m. "The Impossible Spy" is the true story of Israel's master spy, Elie Cohen. "A portrait of spies and spying that is as chilling as it is compelling," the New York Times reported. Cohen was a family man leading a quiet, normal life when, at the age of 35, he was recruited by Israel's secret service (Mossad) and assigned a mission that would forever change his life and the history of Israel. Quilt Walk
LAKE CITY, FL - Lake City Quilt Walk in Historic Downtown Lake City will be held May 9-10. New and Antique quilts will be on display in merchants windows throughout downtown. Vendors and demonstrations will be on hand both days of the event. A Mother's Day Luncheon is planned for Saturday in the Blanche Hotel. UNION COUNTY, FL - The Second Annual Union County Disaster Preparedness Fair. Between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., experts will be on-hand to give first aid instruction, tips for purifying drinking water without electricity, cooking without power, preparing survival kits, using hand-held radios, fingerprinting for children, using a GPS, gardening tips in limited spaces and much more.

There will also be a house-fire simulator to show families how to exit a fire and create a safe meeting place. Florida Surgeon General Dr. Viamonte Ros will be a guest speaker during the fair.

Stunt team will perform
MACCLENNY, FL - TopGunz Stunt Team will perform in the Food Lion Parking Lot on south Sixth Street. Proceeds will got to the local Shop With A Cop program. Practice begins at 10:00 a.m. The stunt show will start at 1:00 p.m.

Inn Tours
AMELIA ISLAND, FL - From flowers to pumpkins to "secret" cookie recipes, the Amelia Island Bed and Breakfast Association invites the public to enjoy three new open-house walking tours in 2008. Beginning on Saturday, May 10, the seven member inns will offer a House and Garden Tour, giving guests a unique view of some of Amelia Island's hidden gardens. Scheduled the day before Mother's Day, the House and Garden Tour will showcase the properties' flowering gardens, period architecture and unique decorating schemes.

Addison on Amelia, the Amelia Island Williams House, the Ash Street Inn, Elizabeth Pointe Lodge, Fairbanks House, Florida House Inn and the Hoyt House will participate in the tours.

Tickets for the tours are $20/each or $45 for the series and will be available beginning in April at any of the seven inns and the Chamber of Commerce Gateway Office. For more information, visit www.ameliaislandinns.com.

Community Club meets
BRYCEVILLE, FL - The Bryceville Community Club meets the third Tuesday of each month for a pot luck luncheon and program at the Bryceville Community Hall at 7280 Motes Road. If you are a newcomer to Bryceville, this is a wonderful way to meet your neighbors and learn about our town.

The Baker County Middle School Band Program will present the 4th Annual "Sousa Spectacular" Concert. Join us for an evening of patriotic music, a celebration of the American spirit and the "March King", John Phillip Sousa. Selections include Mack the Knife, When the Saints Go Marching In, and Stars & Stripes Forever. The Sousa Spectacular will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the B.C.M.S. auditorium. Admission is free, however donations are accepted.

The second Wild Amelia Nature Festival, featuring eco-tours and exhibits will be May 16-18 at the Atlantic Recreation Center and sites around Amelia and the Talbot islands. Segway, kayak, cycling, hiking and boat tours with naturalists and nature lovers will be available. FCCD golf tourney The Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency Chapter V will host a golf tournament on Tuesday, May 27, to help raise money for their many training and community service events.

There will be 4-Man Scramble and Captain's choice for $50 per player or $200 per team and Mulligans $2 each or three for $5.

Awards will be provided for first, second and third-place teams and for the closest to the pin and longest drive.

The tournament will take place at Southern Oaks Golf Club in Lake City. Pre-registration is available now through May 21.

Trace Adkins has been a major star in country music for over a decade, his newest release, "You’re Gonna Miss This" currently sits at number one on the Billboard Country Music chart. He will be at the St. Augustine Amphitheater on May 30. Tickets are $39.50 - $75

Cassels Christian Academy golf tourney
Cassels Christian Academy of Starke will hold a benefit golf tournament on Saturday, May 31, at the Starke Golf & Country Club. Sign up now for 4-person teams, two shotgun starts or captain's choice. The cost is $200 per team.
