What is your favorite movie? Music? Book? What about video game? Is there one specific name that sticks with you when you are in the stores? Do you search and search until you locate that one game that one little detail that makes it worth buying?

If you’re like me and this is true for you as well, you look for that Lord of the Rings game or maybe it’s Marvel, but usually it’s something. For me it is the Dynasty Warriors franchise. Every time I see Dynasty Warriors I have to investigate. The same goes for Lord of the Rings as well as many other titles.

What does that actually mean though?

What I think it means is that the developers have taken something that is either well-known or a sequel to a previous game. Developers build on this market of "well known" and "preexisting goods" to target the gamers, movie-goers, or readers to which they apply.

How many of you would walk into a store and see a Grand Theft Auto box and not investigate? Very few I’m sure.

This all brings me to this week’s article.

Lionshead Studios once promised gamers an unforgettable RPG experience that would change the world of gaming forever. However, not able to achieve such a high goal, Fable did end up being a very good game. Now the sequel, Fable 2, brings even more action and interaction then ever before.

Fable 2 is set 500 years after the original game. The Hero’s Guild lies in ruins and heros are no longer in amble supply. With new features like drop in-and-out multiplayer, the ability to play single player and then have a friend come in and play with you and leave without interrupting the flow of the gameplay adds a new dimension to co-op play.

What better way to get your game noticed then by throwing one of the most well-known names  into the mix? Halo Wars does just that. Halo Wars is a RTS (real time strategy) game that allows players to command the armies of the UNSC units, both familiar and new, back when the war with the alien coalition known as the Covenent first began.

As you can see the Covenant will be packing some major heat.

 

With the guidance of Serina, a spirited A.I. persona, direct legions of UNSC soldiers, Warthogs and Scorpions against Covenant  Grunts, Elites, Ghosts and Scarabs, each group having its own strengths and uses in battle.   Strategic-minded players who react well under pressure will emerge victorious.

 

Halo Wars is being developed by Ensemble Studios, the minds behind the amazing Age ofEmpires series. As well as constant support and input from Bungie, the developers of the original Halo series. The release date is still TBD, to be determined.

Fans of Age of Empires will be familiar with building a base.

If you were born between 1970 and 2000 you know a little something called Star Wars. Whether you are a fan of the original three, that’s 4, 5 and 6 or you like the new ones, 1, 2, and 3, you still share that total geekness with the rest of us so don’t deny it. By the way, 4, 5,and 6 were better.

This summer Lucas Arts is continuing the saga with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which cast players as Darth Vader’s secret apprentice. Are you drooling yet?

The game promises to show new relationship’s in the galaxy and expand the universe in ways not previously done. The game takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. The story revolves mostly around Lord Vader’s quest to rid the galaxy of the Jedi, who have gone into hiding. Players will make choices that could change the

As it’s name implies, The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the force by taking advantage of newly developed technologies. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will make an appearance on PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS, and PSP. All versions tell the same story and feature all of the same characters, but they do it in their own unique way.

 

 

I guess it's a lot harder when you can't crush it under a huge metal door...
