Could Lito Become a Jaguar?

Sports Reporter

Anybody that is familiar with the Florida Gators will identify with a man named Lito by just his first name. So do Eagles fans, but the Jacksonville Jaguars could become much more familiar with Lito Sheppard if this trade comes through for the Jags.

Sheppard is the perennial Pro-Bowl player that may be expendable in Philadelphia now that they have the best corner in the league in Asante Samuel. The Jaguars are said to be trying to acquire the corner for a set of draft picks in next April's draft. For the Jaguars this would mean they would instantly become one of the best secondaries in football pairing Rashaen Mathis with Sheppard at the other corner.

This apparently almost came to fruition during the draft, but after Jacksonville traded up to take Derrick Harvey with the eight overall pick they were left without enough draft picks. Still, both teams are working on a deal that would help the Jaguars match up significantly better against pass happy franchises such as Indianapolis and New England.

Rumors speculate the Jaguars could be giving up as much as a second round draft pick for Sheppard, and a player's name that is being reported is Matt Jones.

Still, would the Jaguars be putting the future on the line by giving up to many draft picks? Some think so, but the Jaguars aren't worried about the future. They want to win championships today.
