Macclenny City Manager Hospitalized

Macclenny City Manager Hospitalized

What began as a nice Saturday afternoon puttering in his yard, turned into a life threatening situation for Macclenny City Manager Gerald Dopson. While working outside at his downtown

home, Dopson began suffering chest pains and his family summoned Baker County EMS personnel. The long term leader of Macclenny declined transport after assessment, despite a previous history of heart-related problems.

A short time later he had his spouse drive him to Ed Fraser Hospital to have some tests done.

According to unnamed sources, Dopson subsequently collapsed and twice had to be revived by emergency room staff. In the aftermath of the two codes, doctors placed him on a ventilator.

Late Saturday afternoon Dopson was flown by Life Flight to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville, where he remains in critical condition.
