Meyer Releases Football Player

By BRANDON FINLEY
Sports Reporter

There will always be people who like to look at a program's thugs and pick apart the program. This won't be one of those times where a coach tries to save a player. Urban Meyer has officially kicked Jamar Hornsby off of the University of Florida football team.

Jamar Hornsby

Hornsby was going to be a star in the UF secondary coming out of Sandalwood High School, but has turned into nothing more than a problem. His latest incident landed him in an Alachua County Jail, and could leave him with prison time. The only certain thing is he will not be with the UF football team this fall.

Honsby is charged with using a dead girl's credit card for up to $3,000. Ashley Slonina was killed last fall in a motorcycle accident with another former UF football player Michael Guilford, who was also killed in the accident.

Since the day following the life taking accident, Hornsby has been using the female's credit card for gas. The family of the deceased noticed unusual circumstances where the card was being used from October through April, and Hornsby turned himself into the police.

This isn't the first time that Hornsby has been in trouble since enrolling in Florida. Last fall, he landed in hot water with coach Meyer after becoming involved in a bar fight where he threw a man on the hood of a car causing $750 damage.

The latest incident will be his last to put any bad rep towards UF. Hornsby will now spend time with his family before returning to his next court date. He is now out on his own recognizance.
