The event from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. will be hosted by Bridget the Gap and City Councilman Johnny Gaffney at Catherine McNair Park at 561 W. 25th St. There will be live entertainment, food, games, prize booths, a fire truck, a helicopter and horses. Admission is free. May 17 - 2008 International Gator DayThe Gator Club of Clay County will celebrate International Gator Day by helping to restore the historic Clarke House and Public Park in Orange Park, FL. This Project will help Clay County celebrate its Sesquicentennial in 2008. The Clay County Gator Club is also making a gift basket for the Gator/Noles challenge in support of an American Cancer Society fundraiser. Please come out and support your Gator Club and Clay County. May 17 - European Rally School Opens New Paved CourseThe European Rally School and Motorsport Park is a driving course used by SWAT, the Green Berets, and who knows who else? It has a new paved road course with 5 layouts and 3 tracks. If you like to watch, the Super Rallycross will be open to the public on May 17. The site is located on SR 100 at the Keystone Heights Airpark just west of Keystone Heights. It is also available for corporate events, rides and drives, dealer launches, motor clubs, test days, photo shoots and filming. This project has taken 2 years to complete. It comes complete with a new classroom building to seat 120 people and paddock / parking for 600 cars. ERS has been on their 430 acre site for 9 years adding new tracks and courses over the years. May 18 - Concert on the Lawn - Salute to the Armed ForcesThe second in a three part series of unique free performances by the NAVY BAND will be held May 18 at the Latham Plaza in Jacksonville Beach. The Navy Band presents A Salute to the Armed Forces. The third concert will be JUNE 22 – PRIDE: Classic Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert begins at 7:00 p.m.
May 20 - Guana River Kayak TourCome and experience a natural exploration of the pristine waters of the Guana River. Join a professional kayak instructor/naturalist for a relaxing tour of the coastal estuary, one of the most productive ecosystems on the planet. Paddling clinic and safety protocol provided before every tour. Participants will climb into a stable, double kayak and paddle out into the estuary to search for herons, egrets, osprey and other estuary dependent species that inhabit the area. Enjoy a serene sensation only attainable in a kayak. No experience required. This is Real Florida nature from a unique perspective. 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Cost for this event is $45 per person and is appropriate for people age 12 and up. All kayaking equipment, instruction, reserve entry fee/parking and tour are included. Please meet at the GTM Reserve Environmental Educational Center 15 minutes prior to the departure time.
