Largo man in custody after crime spree
A Largo man is in custody after a multi-county crime spree that included a home invasion robbery and two business robberies. Jason Phillip Chancey, 21, was arrested at a Columbia County gas station Monday.
According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, Chancey forced his way into the home of a Zephyrhills family and held the victim’s at gunpoint. He then stole the family’s vehicle, a 2003 Dodge Durango. He was driving the vehicle when he was arrested.

Chancey then robbed a Citgo gas station in Marion County and continued north on Interstate 75 into Alachua County where he robbed a McDonald’s restaurant.
FHP Lt. Kenneth Mark Boatright saw the vehicle as it excited the interstate on State Road 47 and followed Chancey to the Shell gas station where he was taken into custody.
Chancey is charged with three counts of armed robbery, carrying a concealed firearm, grand theft, DUI, driving while license suspended or revoked (habitual offender), possession of marijuana (less than 20 grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
