Fernandina PD On-line Crime Alerting and Mapping service

Fernandina PD On-line Crime Alerting and Mapping service

FERNANDINA BEACH, FL - Chief James T. Hurley and the Fernandina Beach Police Department has announced a new On-line Crime Alerting and Mapping service that provides easy to read incident crime maps and automated alerts to the citizens of Fernandina Beach.

The service, located on the police department website at www.fbpd.us under "Crime Statistics," provides neighborhood crime data in near real-time and is available right now. Residents can also access the police department’s Uniform Crime Report (UCR) statistics on the website.

The CrimeReports service is free to the public and allows citizens to receive automatic daily, weekly or monthly e-mail alerts when crimes occur near their home, office, school, or other location of concern. Most importantly, citizens can view reported crime activity on an easy to use map for any location within the City of Fernandina Beach. Crime data is updated nightly and includes:

• Date
• Incident Type
• Location
• Distance from Citizen’s Address
• Event Case Number

CrimeReports will prove to be particularly valuable as we work to enhance our local neighborhood crime watch groups and increase our Police Auxiliary Corps. We believe that
residents should be informed about what is going on in their neighborhoods and they should haveappropriate access to meaningful information.

By participating in this program we are demonstrating our commitment to making crime information available to the citizens of Fernandina Beach. Timely, location specific information is critical to our goal of empowering citizens to work with the police department to address neighborhood crime issues
