Gators land two big commitments to next years' class Gators land two big commitments to next years' classBy BRANDON FINLEY The recruiting season may only be in its infant stages, but the Florida Gators are already off to a fast start. That start got a kick start this weekend as coach Urban Meyer received two nice calls informing him that the Gators would receive commitments from Mike Gillislee and Nu'Keese Richardson. Gillislee is an interesting fit for the Gators, because he was made to play in the spread offense. Signing out of Deland, Gillislee could be a slash player in the Gators' system. He's a short player that could easily see time at running back, but be equally as dangerous as a slot receiver. Does that resemble any current player on the UF roster? Perhaps all of their skill position players. It's obvious that coach Urban Meyer is building his team around players like this with the roster already being stocked with players like Percy Harvin and Chris Rainey. Gillislee looks to be the perfect fit for that mold. Richardson will join former Pahokee teammate Janoris Jenkins on the Gators roster next season. The receiver is coming off a state championship performance for the ages, but what will Gator fans expect of Richardson. It's obvious that the kid has great hands, but the Gators love his speed as well. In the SEC these days it's all about speed, and Richardson simply has it. He's another guy that could fall into the slot position for the Gators, and an instant home run contender when catching the ball in space. Yes, the recruiting season is early, but the Gators may have just jump started their gravy train. These players may not be Tim Tebow, but finding the next Percy Harvin isn't exactly a bad thing. |
