Hundreds coming to Macclenny for softball tourneys
     Baker County Little League will be hosting teams from all over North Florida this summer, as players from age nine to sixteen come to town for sanctioned District Eleven softball tournaments. Coming to Minger Field in Macclenny, for the tourneys which will begin on June 28 are teams from all over Jacksonville, Saint Augustine, Fernandina, Callahan and Yulee.

Baldwin seeks agreement with CSX
"Quiet zone," crossing improvements discussed
     Expansion at the Port of Jacksonville is expected to greatly increase the number of trains going through Baldwin every day. Stan Totman, mayor of the Town of Baldwin, is trying to get multiple improvements from the railroad in exchange.

Red light needed for dangerous intersection
     The City of Macclenny has been seeking a red light for the intersection of George Hodges Road and State Road 121, near the I-10 overpass, for several years. At their regular monthly meeting Tuesday evening, the city council voted to renew their request for a signal light because they believe the intersection is unsafe.

June is Florida Rivers Month
Launch of contest allows photographers to showcase beauty of waterways
     Governor Charlie Crist recently signed a proclamation honoring June as Florida Rivers Month, recognizing the more than 50,000 miles of rivers and streams throughout the state. Florida’s famed waterways include the 310-mile St. Johns River, one of the only rivers in North America flowing north, as well as two designated National Wild & Scenic Rivers, the Wekiva and Loxahatchee Rivers.

Baldwin a step closer to full-time fire protection
     For the first time ever the town of Baldwin took a step Tuesday night that may allow them to have a full-time professional fire department. And if Mayor Stan Totman has his way, the town is getting it's fire department at no cost.
