Gulbis Misses the Cut

By DAVID THEUS

Natalie, Natalie, Natalie, we are so sorry. Three spots back from making the cut, maybe you should be playing one week on and one week off, it seemed to work last week. I don’t know about you guys, but there are fewer and fewer American gals succeeding in this game of golf anymore. What has happened to our American feeder system of producing female college golfers anymore?

This week’s winner is Taiwanese Yani Tseng. Ms. Tseng is a rookie this year with ten starts already under her belt, three top ten finishes, and a cool earnings of $535,241 in her savings account, $300,000 from this week alone. This week’s second place finisher was Maria Hjorth from Sweden, tied for third were Lorena Ochoa of Mexico and Annika Sorenstam, another Swede. Finishing fifth, the only American in the top five, Laura Diaz.

Our ladies are off a week it looks like, and then right back at it at the Wegmans LPGA on June 19 - 22. This event will be played at the Locust Hill Country Club, located in Pittsford, New York. The Wegmans is another $2,000,000 purse and last year’s defending champion, Lorena Ochoa will be gunning to defend her title against the field again this next outing.

Better luck next time to our Natalie, maybe with this week off you can concentrate and get some of that LPGA cash for yourself. Our thoughts are with you always.
