Church News Briefs Church News BriefsChurch anniversaryThe Franklintown United Methodist Church on American Beach will celebrate its 120th church anniversary on June 22 at 11 a.m. The pastor and members invite the community and its sister churches locally and in neighboring counties to come and worship with them as they celebrate this wonderful event. Guest speaker will be the Rev. William O. Holmes, president, Nassau County Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Fernandina Beach. Lunch will be served immediately following the service. Cactus Canyon Vacation Bible SchoolFive Points Baptist Church, 736 Bonnieview Road, Fernandina Beach, will offer "Cactus Canyon" Vacation Bible School June 23-27 from 6-9 p.m. for ages three years to sixth grade. For more information call 261-4615. Vacation Bible School - Surfing Through the ScripturesYulee United Methodist Church will hold Vacation Bible School from 6-8 p.m. July 7-11. Café NexusCafe Nexus is a Friday night spot for folks 18 and up. Enjoy good caffeinated beverages and see some great bands and comedians without all the smoke and booze. The cafe is located in the basement underneath Memorial United Methodist Church's sanctuary at the corner of Sixth and Centre streets in Fernandina Beach. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the show starts at 8:00. Admission is free. "The Rock"Youth 12 years old and up are invited to "The Rock" on Tuesday nights at 6:30 p.m. at The Lighthouse radio station in St. Marys, Georgia. The night features praise and worship and teaching from the Word of God. Food is provided after the Bible study. If you can't be there, listen in on the radio at FM 89.3. On Friday nights at 7:00 p.m., the station hosts HEBrews, a ministry for young adults 18-30 years old. The night features fellowship with acoustic music, Bible study and a light dinner, as well as flavored cappuccinos in a Christian cafe environment. On Saturday nights, the station is the place to be for single and married adults 30 years old and up. Saturday Night Alive begins at 6:00 p.m., and features great food, fellowship and Bible study.
