     Police say the deadly shooting at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville Thursday was an "ongoing domestic dispute."

Lake City man indicted
Second-degree murder charges for leaving crash scene
     A grand jury indicted a Lake City man Wednesday for second-degree murder in the February death of Pamela Pafford. Michael Philpot, 24, was initially charged by the Florida Highway Patrol with leaving the scene of a crash with death, leaving the scene of a crash with serious injury and violation of probation after his car struck the car driven by Pafford.

Cold case facts go to Columbia County grand jury
     A three-year-old cold murder case was presented to a grand jury Thursday and two men indicted in the 2005 homicide of Fort White resident Marty Llyn Brown.

     Questioning turned physical for Baker County Deputy W. Limbaugh when he and Deputy J. Peterson observed three guys walking toward CVS just before 5:00 a.m. Wednesday. When they stopped and questioned them, 20-year-old Stephen Fountain kept interrupting. Deputy Limbaugh then arrested Fountain for interfering with an investigation.

Florida Medical Examiner’s report show prescription drugs more deadly
     The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the Florida Medical Examiners Commission released the state’s annual report on Drugs Identified in Deceased Persons. The report contains information compiled from autopsies performed by medical examiners across the state in 2007. During that period, there were more than 168,900 deaths in Florida. Of those, 8,620 individuals were found to have died with one or more of the drugs specified in this report in their bodies.

FWC arrests man for stealing crabs
     An East Palatka man got an early wake-up visit from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) law officers Thursday morning when they arrested him at his residence for stealing crabs from commercial crabbers on the St. Johns River.
