Baker County Felony Court

By LYNSIE BREAUX

More than 100 cases went through the felony court docket Monday but only a few people received prison time.

Edward Joseph Field pled guilty to four counts of violating his probation for aggravated assault on a police officer. His plea agreement will send him to prison for the minimum mandatory sentence of three years. All four sentences will be served concurrently and he did get credit for the 232 days he's already spent in prison.

Field was originally arrested April 18, 2005 and Judge Rosier unsuccessfully terminated his probation.

Fate Trovell Holcy Jr. will also spending a long time in prison after failing to complete the terms of his probation. Holcy was arrested May 23, 2003 and was charged with lewd and lascivious assault on a child less than 16 years old. The judge sentenced him to 102 months in prison with credit for the more than five years he's already been incarcerated.

Sexual offender probation is far more stringent than regular probation and some people have trouble adhering to it's requirements. Holcy, 31, was sentenced to five years in prison and, according to the Department of Corrections, was released August 17, 2007.

The other person sentenced to prison was Alton Nathaniel Knox who will be spending the next 20 months in prison.

He was arrested May 21, 2007 on charges of grand theft, fraudulent use of personal identification information and providing false name to law enforcement. The three counts of uttering forged bills charges were dropped.

Dustin Ryan Crews, Jennifer Futch Dugger, Samuel H. Lindsey and Timothy Jackson all neglected to show up for court in the morning and Judge Rosier issued failure to appear capias on all of them.
