     Just days after winning the 2008 U.S. Open in a dramatic sudden-death playoff, Tiger Woods announced that he will be forced to undergo reconstructive Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) surgery on his left knee and will miss the remainder of the PGA TOUR season.

Jaguars 2008 Training Camp
     The Jacksonville Jaguars’ 2008 training camp will begin on Friday, July 25 when all 80 players on the team’s roster are scheduled to report. The first practice session will take place on Saturday, July 26 at 10:15 a.m. on the practice fields northwest of Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. Training camp will be open to the public and media for viewing through August 6.

Jags waive five players
     On Monday, the Jacksonville Jaguars waived five players, reducing their roster count to 80. Waived today were offensive tackle Ryan Gibbons, long-snapper Brett Goode, defensive end Brian Smith, tight end Isaac Smolko, and wide receiver Craphonso Thorpe. Gibbons, Goode and Smith are first-year players, while Smolko and Thorpe are second-year veterans.

Suns win series, force North Division deadlock

     After a rain delay of nearly three and a half hours, the Jacksonville Suns (33-37) delayed the Huntsville Stars' (41-29) chance to win the first half North Division championship on Sunday during the final day of the Southern League's first half, with a 4-3 victory in front of 3,897 at the Baseball Grounds.
