Green Cove Springs offices go to 4-day work week

Green Cove Springs offices go to 4-day work week

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, FL - Beginning today, the Green Cove Springs city offices will be open only four days a week. Following the lead of many municipalities and government offices in an effort to save energy costs, the City Council agreed to the summer change at their meeting on June 17.

City Manager Don Bowles noted this will give the staff an opportunity to track expenses to see if the change is cost effective. He pointed out that the Clay County School Board has routinely converted to a four-day week during the summer for several years.

City Hall will be open 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The City does not do utility cutoffs on Friday at present and under the new system would not do them on Thursday.

City Hall, Public Works, Electric and Police Administration will be affected by the change.
