City Manager back on the job

By MELISSA BURNSED

MACCLENNY, FL - Just two short months after a massive cardiac event, Macclenny City Manager Gerald Dopson is back at the helm of the local municipality.

Dopson began easing his way back into the job last week. He plans to gradually build up to a full time schedule, while still undergoing cardiac rehab therapy several mornings a week.

"I am looking forward to the continued challenges we are presented with each day at city hall," Dopson said in an interview Monday. He complimented the city staff and administration for the excellent work they did during his convalescence.

In addition Mr. Dopson expressed his gratitude to the hundreds of well wishers who reached out to him and his family over the past two months.

"It was just so awesome, the outpouring of cards, love, visitation and phone calls during my illness. If you had to go through what I did, the positive side is that there were so many caring friends and family, along with all the city personnel. I get emotional just talking about it," he said.
