Bank robber shot by police dies

An armed bank robber that stuck a Jacksonville bank on June 23 died yesterday. James Martin Imbriani, 50, passed away July 1, just over a week after being shot by police.

and fled the scene leading Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office deputies on a chase before being stopped. As he exited his vehicle, he turned toward officers with his gun drawn and was shot several times.

Imbriani entered the Fifth Third Bank at St. Augustine Road and Dupont Avenue and demanded money. Police picked up the vehicle and gave chase to where another officer deployed stop sticks. As he exited his vehicle, he turned toward officers with his gun drawn and was shot several times. The gun was later discovered to be a BB gun.
