This year’s U.S. Women's Open, although not a LPGA Tour co-sponsored event, it is still one of the LPGA’s four major championships. This event began in 1946 and is the longest-running tournament currently on the LPGA Tour.
Held at Interlachen Country Club in Edina, Minnesota, this year’s winner was Ms. Inbee Park of South Korea. Park won with a four stroke margin of victory over next best Helen Alfredsson of Sweden to take home $585,000 and move her to number four on the money list with $1,008,023.00 in winnings so far this year.
Others that finished in the top ten this week are: tied for third place was In-Kyung Kim and Stacy Lewis with a finishing score of 288 for the tournament and tied for sixth place was Giulia Sergas, Nicole Castrale, Mi Hyun Kim, and Paula Creamer with a finishing score of 289 for the tournament. Lastly in tenth place, all by herself, Teresa Lu with 290 for the week.
As for our Natalie, our hearts and hopes go out to her for missing the cut for the second tournament in a row. I think it’s time for an intervention, healer, or golf whisperer at best. Come on Natalie, you’ve got to get your groove back on.
Next week, July 4th - July 6th, the ladies will be playing at the P&G Beauty NW Arkansas Championship, presented by John Q. Hammons in Rogers Arkansas with a purse of $1,700,000.
