Bradford teen killed in crash

A 16-year-old Bradford County girl was killed in an automobile accident early Saturday morning on C.R.225 in northeast Alachua County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Ashley M. Ray of Starke, was driving north on CR 225 when she failed to properly negotiate a curve. Her car spun out of control, traveling onto the west side of the road before becoming airborne and striking several trees.

The car overturned, partially ejecting Ray who was not wearing a seat belt. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Alachua County EMS.

The passenger, a 17-year-old female from Lake City, received minor injuries and was treated at Shands at the University of Florida.
