Fernandina Beach Police Department is awarded Reaccreditation

The Fernandina Beach Police Department has recently been awarded with reaccreditation by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation in a ceremony that took place in CoralSprings, Florida on June 11.

"The on-site assessment team was duly impressed with our agency and was highly complimentary of the sworn and civilian men and women of our police department," said Chief James T. Hurley. "They also received numerous positive comments about our department from community stakeholders. At the presentation ceremony they related stories of various positive encounters with residents and business owners, while talking at length about the extremely positive collective attitude, and high degree of knowledge and skill demonstrated by department members."

Chief Hurley praised each department member who contributed and singled out Sergeant Jack Bradley, the department’s new accreditation manager, for accepting challenge with "enthusiasm and determination."

"His efforts, with the support of others, have helped to keep this agency on track and moving forward as a professional law enforcement agency," said Hurley.

Mayor Bruce Malcolm and the City Commission have announced that they will acknowledge the police department at the beginning of the regularly scheduled Commission meeting at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, July 1st.
