Robbery suspect in custody
The suspect in an attempted armed robbery of a convenience store in Columbia County on July 4th was arrested late Wednesday afternoon.
Jeremy Derick Lee, 19, was charged with the attempted armed robbery of a convenience store on Country Club Road after he allegedly entered the store about 9 am, placed a plastic trash bag on the counter, pulled a handgun from the waistline of his pants and demanded the money from the cash register. As the clerk reached for the telephone, the suspect ran from the store with the bag. No money was taken.
Lee was also charged with burglary and criminal mischief after he allegedly entered a shed at the residence of an acquaintance on Scarlet Way earlier on the same day. Lee left the shed empty-handed.
In addition, Lee is a suspect in several burglaries cases being investigated by Lake City Police Department.
He was booked into the Columbia County Jail and remained there Thursday on a $106,000 bond.
