Busch continues to win

Sports Columnist

Maybe Nascar should just change the name of the Sprint Cup to the Busch Series. After all, the name has already been in place. However, Kyle Busch is beginning to show that the Sprint Cup is his series. A year after being let go by Hendrick Motor Sports for Dale Earnhardt Jr, the twenty three year old driver from Vegas owns the sport.

With his sixth win of the season, Busch now stands 182 points ahead of Earnhardt Jr. for the points lead. However, Busch has dominated the series. Junior has been lost in the shuffle.

It was a strange, shortened race on Saturday night, but when Busch chose to go low to pass Jeff Gordon on lap 155 that was all that was needed. Busch got the win under review following a green, white, and checkered flag finish. It was a close win, but the win continues to prove what Busch is made of.

He's a driver that has found a way to win by just about every means possible this season, and doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon. If the chase for the cup were to begin today, Busch would hold a forty point edge over the rest of the field led by Junior.

"It was close, I knew that, but when I did see the yellow light come on, I could barely see the nose on the 99 (Carl Edwards) car up my right-front fender. So I was hoping that we were the winners and, you know, it ended up being that way," Busch said following the race.

Close, caution, or green flag, it doesn't matter. The only thing that matters for his team is that Kyle Busch continues to win. Why did Hendrick Motor Sports go with that Earnhardt guy again?
