Wideout undergoes surgery
     Jaguars wide receiver Jerry Porter underwent surgery on Thursday for repair of a hamstring tendon that was not healing. The surgery was successful and he is expected to be out approximately six to eight weeks and the team is hopeful that he will return for the regular season opener on Sept. 7.

Jags sign Thomas Williams to contract
     The Jacksonville Jaguars signed rookie linebacker Thomas Williams to a contract today. Williams was the 155th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft and one of the Jaguars' two fifth-round selections. He joins former teammate and seventh-round pick Chauncey Washington as two of the five draft picks to sign contracts.

     The Clara White Mission is pleased to announce that our volunteer and Jaguars player, Scott Starks, will host the annual Scott Starks "Stars & Strikes Celebrity Charity Bowling" to benefit the Clara White Mission, Inc. This event is scheduled for Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Jax Lane Bowling Center.

     This week found the ladies of the LPGA in Sylvania, Ohio for this year’s Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic presented by Kroger. This week’s course was the Highland Meadows course par 34-37=71 and 6,428 yards of play. For a young lady who was playing for her high school team not only three years ago, Paula Creamer came out shooting in her first round to set the pace. This week’s winner, Paula Creamer of the United States hit eleven birdies for a first round score of 60 to let her opponents know she was serious.

     Reacting to a report that claimed he was in the process of selling,Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver delivered an unequivocal message to the team’s fans Thursday, "I’m not selling the team. The team is not moving to (Los Angeles)."
