Yulee Allstars advance
     The Yulee Little League 9-10 girls Allstars captured the District 11 and Section 3 titles to advance to this weekend's state tournament in Titusville. They won the District 11 championship July 4 in Baker County and went on to capture the Section 3 title in Port St. John by beating Mimms 27-9 and Eustis 9-6 to advance.

Little League tournament roundup
     The fireworks weren’t just in the air this past Fourth of July week, as little league teams from all over North Florida lit up the scoreboards in their quest for District Eleven championships. From Macclenny to Saint Augustine teams of young talented softball and baseball players took part in the annual rite of summer.

Scantling awarded 2008 Bragan Award
     Episcopal High School senior Hunter Scantling has been selected as the 2008 recipient of the Bragan Award by the Jacksonville Suns. The Bragan Award is given annually to a North Florida high school senior baseball player who has exhibited outstanding skill on the baseball diamond and strong character and leadership off the field.
