Battery and Lewd and Lascivious Act
Deputies made contact with a female who advised she had been out running when an attacker grabbed her from behind in the crotch and buttocks area. She advised responding deputies that she had immediately dropped to the ground and began flailing her arms and screaming. The victim was then able to see that her attacker was a juvenile, at which time she became furious and began to chase the suspect. The victim chased the suspect to the 800 block of SW 75th Street before losing sight of him.
Responding deputies were able to locate a suspect that the victim subsequently identified as the individual who attacked her. A 15 year-old B/M was arrested and charged with two misdemeanors: Battery and a Lewd and Lascivious Act. He was turned over to the Juvenile Assessment Center.

counterfeit trademarked merchandise being offered for sale. Detectives confiscated over $120,000 worth of women’s accessories bearing counterfeit trademarks such as Coach, Dooney & Bourke, Louis Vuitton, Prada and many other designer brands. Items included jewelry, clothing and women’s handbags.
The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office actively investigates the sales and distribution of counterfeit trademarked goods. Any sale of these trademarked counterfeit goods is a violation of Florida Statute 831.05. Anyone with information about the sale of possible counterfeit goods can call Detective Chris Sims at 352-367-4175.
Nassau County
Burglary arrests
The Fernandina Beach Police Department has announced that two men have been arrested for a burglary that occurred in the early morning hours of July 16, 2008. The suspects broke into the Florida Public Utilities facility on Lime Street and removed several computers and digital cameras from the warehouse.
A break in this case came when a detective from the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding the location of the stolen property in this case and responded, along with Fernandina Beach Police detectives, to a residence in unincorporated Nassau County. When detectives arrived at 795 Geiger Road they were able to recover three stolen computers and arrest two individuals, Gregory Shields and Timothy McEldowney.
One of the suspects is now cooperating with the investigation and has confessed to being responsible for the FPU burglary and six other commercial burglaries that have occurred within the past month along the South 8th Street corridor in unincorporated Nassau County. A search of the residence and area around the home resulted in the recovery of more than $10,000.00 stolen property from FPU.
Timothy McEldowney, 26, and Gregory Shields, 26, both of Fernandina Beach, have been charged with burglary and theft of property from FPU, which is located within the city limits.

There have been several reports of mailboxes damaged in the county including the city of Lake Butler as well as some on N. CR 237 and S. CR 237.
