Store clerk found murdered

Convenience store clerk murdered

COLUMBIA COUNTY, FL - A Columbia County convenience store clerk was shot and killed Tuesday night during an apparent robbery.

Shortly before 9 pm Tuesday, Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a 911 call from the parking lot of the Joy America Food Store at US Highway 441 and Interstate 10. Inside, they found Mrs. Linda Susan Raulerson lying behind the counter. Mrs. Raulerson, 56, of Lake City, died at the scene.

"At this time, we are treating this as a robbery/homicide," said Sheriff Bill Gootee. "This murder is especially heinous as Mrs. Raulerson did nothing but comply with the suspect and she was shot in a cold- blooded manner."

The suspect is described as a black male, 5’10" to 6’2" tall with an average build. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a baseball style cap under the hood, long jean shorts, bright white sneakers, sunglasses and a shirt with horizontal stripes.

The car the suspect was driving is believed to be a white with black trim, four-door, 1993-95 Buick Regal.

"Anyone with any information on this homicide is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Columbia County and help us apprehend this very dangerous individual," said Sheriff Bill Gootee.

If you have any information, please call Crime Stoppers of Columbia County at 386-754-7099. You will remain anonymous and you may be eligible for a cash reward.

Do not approach or attempt to apprehend this suspect as he is deemed armed and extremely dangerous.
