Suspect in murder of young mother killed by police
The man believed to be involved in the murder of Trudy Michelle Taylor Sarman of Macclenny was shot and killed Tuesday when he ran from police.
Brian Brock, 29, was under surveillance in Mayport just after 4:00 am Tuesday morning when he jumped from the vehicle he was riding in and led officers on a foot pursuit. Brock refused commands to stop and was shot at the Courtyards Apartments on Americas Cup Drive.
He was transported to Shands Jacksonville where he died. Investigators say Brock had a violent criminal past.
Brock was named a suspect in Sarman’s murder. However, police did not say if he was the only person being investigated in the case.
The body of the 26-year-old mother of two was found last Thursday by construction workers at the Palms Fish Camp on Heckscher Drive. She was last seen the night before at the Brix, a Jacksonville Beach bar. Police say she left the bar with one or more people.
Sarman’s funeral will be held Wednesday, July 30
th at Oceanway Congregational Holiness Church in Jacksonville. She will be laid to rest at Macedonia Cemetery in Macclenny. Arrangements are under the direction of Cedar Bay Funeral Home.
