Fishing Report, Northeast Florida
Fishing Report, Northeast Florida
By CAPTAIN BRIAN WALKER
Fishing has been good from the inshore fishing to near shore. Inshore fishing has been good throwing rapala skitter walks top water baits early and late in the day. Later in the morning we have been catching reds and flounder on berkley gulp new penny. We have been rigging the gulp on 1/4 ounce sure catch jigs.
Reds are also biting well on live shrimp. We also are catching lots of black drum on live shrimp. One key to finding redfish this time of year is fishing the side of the Intercoastal where you find mullet schooled up that is a good sign you will find reds.
If you are looking to find kingfish then this is a great time of year for it. Kingfish can be found from the beach to the near shore wrecks. Bait has not been the easiest to find this year on the beach. One day the pogies are everywhere the next day you cannot find them. When we have not been able to find pogies mullet have worked great slow trolling the beach. If you are running to the nearshore wrecks there is a lot of bait out there right now. Do not forget the Sabikis rigs at home if you are looking for live bait.
