Over the next several weeks I have decided to chronicle my experiences with my testing, diagnosis, and ultimate treatment of this particular sleep disorder. If you are not familiar with this condition, there are a multitude of web sites dedicated to the study, and better understanding of this illness. More ... I arrived at the Shands Sleep Disorder Center in Jacksonville just about 7:30 pm - parked, entered the building, and proceeded to the fourth floor to the reception station where I was pleasantly greeted and directed to a waiting room prior to my check in. Within a moment or so I was introduced to my sleep technician named Nikki and she proceeded to conduct the check in process. More ... Well, just what I thought would happen, did happen. I came home to my bed and my own surroundings and turned in around 10:30 pm when it started all over again. I was restless and found it difficult to get comfortable. Keep in mind - this time there would be no wires or mask on my face. More ... I’ve been sick all week with an upper respiratory sinus crud. I think there is something that happens when a low pressure system comes in and sits over our area of north Florida, my head decides to try and shrink and my nose is like an open faucet.
