FCCJ Cecil Center North to demonstrate new Air Traffic Control simulators FCCJ Cecil Center North to demonstrate new Air Traffic Control simulatorsAir Traffic Control career exploration students getting hands-on experience with FAA equipmentWHAT: Demonstration of new Adacel Air Traffic Control simulators: Two tower simulators and four radar simulators demonstrated with the help of students from FCCJ's Air Traffic Control Summer Experience WHEN: Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. WHERE: DETAILS: Students (ages 14-20) from Duval, Nassau, Clay and St. Johns counties attending Florida Community College's Air Traffic Control Summer Experience will help demonstrate Adacel (www.adacel.com) air traffic control simulators (the ones used by the FAA) newly installed at FCCJ Cecil Center North. Educators and the media have been invited to attend the demonstration. The simulators were purchased with a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to help in the training of 17,000 new air traffic controllers nationwide. FCCJ was authorized in 2007 as one of only 23 colleges nationwide to provide this training. FCCJ will begin its program in Fall 2008 in a newly renovated facility, complete with the same simulators used in FAA training. For more information, call 904-779-4040. |
