Man killed in freak accident Hawthorne man killed in freak accidentRonald Priest, 56, of Hawthorne, was killed Thursday morning when more than 2,000 pounds of granulated fertilizer fell on him while working at the Mayo Fertilizer Company on McClousky Street in Lake City. The accident happened about 10:00 a.m. Thursday when a stack of three industrial sized bags fell over, broke open and trapped him underneath. When co-workers found him, they immediately attempted live-saving measures but emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
