A Vote for Murder

The Murder Mystery Players stage an interactive comedy about three political candidates, one of whom is offed before the debate is over. I’ll bet "Chad" had something to do with it. August 17, 6-8 PM, Dave & Buster’s, 7025 Salisbury Rd., $34.95 (296-1525).

'Actors' Night Out' If you are interested in auditioning for an Amelia Community Theatre show this coming season, or if you just want to know more about the audition process, you are invited to attend its Actors' Night Out from 7 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 15. Participate in cold readings from five different plays and meet the directors, other actors and backstage volunteers. It's a great opportunity to become familiar with the stories and characters for "Coming Apart," "The Diaries of Adam and Eve," "Incorruptible," "Nuts" and "Six Dances in Six Weeks." Volunteers who want to work offstage are encouraged to attend also. Socialize and have some refreshments during the evening. Actors Night Out is for information and fun - separate auditions for each play will be scheduled at a later date. For information, call the theater at 261-6749.

Audition for Jane Eyre

The Gainesville Community Playhouse is a community theater. If you would like to try your hand at acting, we would love for you to audition. We welcome actors of all experience levels. Generally, to audition for a regular play, you will be asked to do a "cold reading" which is a small reading directly from the play script.

For musicals, come to the audition prepared to sing 16 measures of a song of your choosing. Please bring sheet music for your song selection. A piano player will be available to accompany you. For musicals there may also be a simple dance audition. Because the nature of community theater we realize that actors come with a wide range of dance ability from two left feet to experienced professionals. GCP choreographers are experts at making everyone look like naturals dancing on stage.

The attraction between Jane and Rochester is immediate, but so are Jane's suspicions as she begins to realize that the house and its master harbor a dark secret.
