Cornelius Ingram down, more sidelined

The Florida Gators received some bad news last week as they realized they would be without their starting tight end and future NFL player, Cornelius Ingram. Ingram hurt his knee last week in
non-contact drills when he injured his ACL. Earlier this week, Ingram underwent season ending knee surgery.
For the Gators the loss will almost certainly mean more off the field than it will on it. While Ingram is a great player, the Gators feel certain they have enough to plug in the holes. Sophomore Aaron Hernandez will almost certainly receive more looks during the play calling this season. Tate Casey is a four year player who's very experienced in the offense.
The problem for the Gators is that they are a very young team, and Ingram provided much of the leadership for the underclassmen. Without Ingram the Gators must rely heavily upon player like Tim Tebow to anchor the maturity of the young Florida squad.
However, the loss of Ingram may be compounded with the losses the Gators are feeling all across the board. Not only will Ingram be out for the season, but the Gators announced Monday that both Torrey Davis and safety Bryan Thomas will be out for the Gators first game.
Thomas recently underwent surgery to remove a cyst from his knee, while the Gators don't want to comment too much on Davis' situation. However, it is known that Davis' concerns are dealing with off the field issues, and he should have that squared away early in the season.
What Florida is hoping for over the last few weeks of this off-season is a healthy couple of weeks of practice. After losing Dorian Monroe already for the season, and having Ingram join him the Gators are already down two starters. They'll just be looking to keep that number from reaching three by August 30th.
