Track & field earns seventh consecutive USTFCCCA All-Academic Team accolade

The JU track and field team has been taking care of business in compeitions with three consecutive Atlantic Sun Indoor & Outdoor Championships, but the Dolphins have been getting it done in the classroom way before that as they pick up their seventh consecutive U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic team honors.

The Dolphins earned the honor after posting a 3.060 grade point average for the 2007-08 school semester.

"I am proud that the program has established itself as being consistently excellent in the classroom," said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "The team has established a culture of excellence that is quickly adopted by each incoming freshman class. We are thankful for the academic support provided by Stephanie Metz and Stacey Oxlade."

Junior Natasha Harvey received USTFCCCA individual honors for the third straight year, while fellow junior Shaquania Lundy earned the honor for the first time.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, one must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 and obtain an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying mark for the most recent indoor championships or an outdoor regional qualifying mark in their respective event.

"Shaq and Natasha stand as shining examples of the ability to compete at the absolute highest levels in their sport while also excelling in their academic disciplines," Grigg said.
