Bank robbery suspects arrested in Nassau County

Bank robbery suspects arrested in Nassau County

Two suspects are in custody for recent bank robberies in Nassau County a day after the latest crime. David Sanders, 42, and Brendan Layton, 20, both of Yulee were arrested Wednesday.

The latest robbery occurred at the First Federal Savings Bank, located at 1500 Sadler Road, when two armed gunmen came in at approximately 1:48 PM Tuesday afternoon, brandishing handguns. They jumped the bank counter and took cash. Their stolen getaway car was found a short distance away and police believed they had another car waiting.

Another Nassau County bank in Yulee was robbed in July. At that time the robbers also escaped in one vehicle and had another one waiting a short distance away.

Authorities are calling the two "serial bank robbers" and say they could be behind 20 or more bank robberies. Both Sanders and Layton have lengthy criminal records.
