Junior Miss CompetitionST JOHNS, COUNTY, FL - Registration is open for the 2009 St. Johns County Junior Miss Scholarship program, to be held Oct. 18 at the new Ponte Vedra High School Performing Arts Center. All high school senior girls who live in St. Johns County are eligible to apply for the competition - an evening focused on academics, personality, talent and fitness. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and will be asked to compete in areas of interviewing, talent, scholastics, self-expression and fitness. America's Junior Miss, celebrating its 51st anniversary this year, is the nation's oldest and largest scholarship program for high school senior girls. The program encourages self-esteem by emphasizing education, community service and fitness, as well as setting and reaching goals. RodeoA professional rodeo will be held August 15 and 16 at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds. Professional rodeo performers from across the Southeast will perform in a variety of rodeo events appropriate for all ages and will include bull fighters, rodeo clowns, team- and calf-roping, barrel racing, and bull riding. Local youths will be invited to compete in youth barrel racing and roping competitions.
