Idle speed no wake zones may take effect on the Suwannee and Santa Fe rivers
     Torrential rain brought by Tropical Storm Fay may cause elevated water levels in many of the state’s rivers, including the Santa Fe River and the Suwannee River. When the water reaches a certain level, idle speed, no wake zones go into effect.

     The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will begin accepting 2009 special-opportunity spring turkey hunt applications at 10 a.m. (EDT) September 9. The deadline for submitting applications is midnight (EDT) October 14.

Fishing Report, Northeast Florida
     Fishing has been good both inshore and offshore. We have been fishing behind the shrimp boats on the beach looking for tarpon. They have not been there but they are loaded with large sharks.

UPDATE: The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) announced Sunday afternoon the "Florida Wildlife: On the front line of climate change" summit has been postponed.
     Climate change experts and fish and wildlife scientists will huddle together in Orlando next week to discuss the future of Florida’s fish and wildlife and ask the difficult questions about how best to conserve and manage Florida’s abundant and unique natural resources.
